IN MEMORIAM
There is no death!
What seems so is transition
This life of mortal breath
Is but a suburb of life Elysian
Whose portals we call death.
On the evening of May the 6th. the spirit of Mrs. H.P. Martin passed to its Heavenly Home. There was no illness, no suffering, just a painless passing from this life.
She taught school that day going home at 4 PM; lay down for a nap, and when she awoke, arose and said something was wrong that she could not talk, and went out on the porch and sat in rocker, became unconscious and fell on floor and just as the sun was sinking in the west her spirit went home to God.
She was an ideal Christian character, always thinking and planning how she could help the church, the Sunday school, her neighbors, and humanity in general.
She was president of The Home Mission Society for several years and the members all said " How can we do without her?" She went away at a time when we needed her most. Her neighbors stood about with swimming eyes and said, " We will miss you her Oh! how we will miss her. "
Everybody loved Mrs. Martin. Her face was all sunshine and her life a benediction to all she touched.
Our lives have been brightened and enriched by our contact with her.
And we are sure " Her works will follow after her."
A precious one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled;
God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon His love had given;
And though the body molders here
The soul is safe in heaven.
