Henry was born to Wilkerson P And Martha R Green Adkisson Jan 18th 1856. He was the 2nd child born to Wilkerson and the only known male son. At age 20, on 9 Jul 1878 Henry married Mary Ellen Hendrickson and they had 3 children prior to Mary Ellen's death 7 Dec 1886.

On Mar 28 1888, Henry married Ida Susan Jackson, who produced 12 children, 9 living during their long marriage.

Henry was a farmer like his father before him. He worked hard on a rented farm until he was able to purchase his own farm mortgage free prior to 1920. His beloved Ida passed away 11 Oct. 1927. Henry remained unmarried until he died 27 Jan 1945. He and Ida are buried side by side. Mary Ellen and two of his children who died early are buried close by, all laid to rest in Dyllis Cemetery.
