Malene Ross Beachum, 89, of 231 Mercer St., Marston, passed away May 2, 2011 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. She was born July 13, 1921, the daughter of thel ate Charlie and Addie Ross of the Fountain Hill community.
Beachum retired from Richmond County School of Hoffman as a bus driver and teacher's aide. She was a member of Marston Presbyterian Church and also attended Marston Baptist Church.
Funeral services were conducted May 4 in the chapel of Watson-King Funeral Home in Rockingham with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating. Entombment followed in the mausoleum of Richmond Memorial Park. The family fellowshipped with friends at 4 p.m. at Marston Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Boyce Hugh Beachum Jr. and Gerald Roger Beachum, both of Marston; three daughters, Betty Beachum Goss of Marston, Barbara Beachum McCarver of Eastwood and Rebecca Beachum Gulden of Park City, Utah; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ervin Ross and Hoover Ross, both of Marshville, and Fred Ross of Indian Trail; and two sisters, Hazel Lee of Norwood and Sara Thomas of Peachland.
Beachum was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce H. Beachum Sr.
