Elwood G. Allen
Berryton - Elwood G. Allen, 82, rural Berryton, died Wednesday, June 8, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. He had been ill.
Mr. Allen was a dairy farmer many years in the Berryton community until he retired in 1975.
He was born Dec. 4, 1905, at Tonganoxie, the son of William D. and Mary E. Hillner Allen. He came to the Berryton community at an early age.
Mr. Allen was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, past master of Albert Neece Lodge No. 248, AF&AM, and a former member of Watson Grange and Senior Citizens group at the church.
He was married to Leona M. Murphy Dec. 28, 1927, at Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Loreha M. Vuckery, Braman, Okla.; two sons, William E. Allen, Berryton, and Norman G. Allen, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Avis Stine, Topeka, and Mrs. Ona Godlove, Carbondale; two brothers, Walter D. Allen, Lawrence, and Oran Allen, Garden Grove, Calif.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Albert Neece Lodge No. 248, AF&AM, in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 89th and Ratner Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church, 6020 S.E. 34th, Tecumseh, 66542. Tibbitts-Griffin Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
