Mr. Alger died unexpectedly at his residence Thursday morning shortly after suffering a heart attack. He was a farmer.
Burial was to be at the church cemetery under direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia.
Others surviving include his widow, Mrs. Lois Alger, Columbia; a son, Pfc. Charles Alger, with the U.S. Army in Germany; his mother, Mrs. Ollie Alger, Clarks; a sister, Mrs. Etta Womack, Clarks; two brothers, Marvin Alger, Grayson, and W. C. Alger, Olla; a half-brother, Marshal Alger, Magnolia, Miss.; a half-sister, Mrs. I. L. Salomon, Columbia; and three grandchildren.
