Alger Dayton Finchum was the son of Decatur and Julie (Henry) Finchum. He died at the age of 55 years; survived by his wife, Francis Susie Allen Finchum (Sevierville); sons D R, Charles, Odel and James Earl Finchum; daughters, Mrs Cleo Suttles, Mrs Judy Carr and Mrs Eva Sue Lindsey; one brother, Claude; five sisters, Mrs Lucille Greene, Mrs Evarette Hines, Mrs Juanita Hines, Mrs Helen Finchum and Mrs Gladys Huddleson.
