Maggie H. Tate was born on December 27, 1885 in Callaway County Missouri, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Martha) Jane Martin, and passed away on July 7, 1973 in Fulton, Missouri.

On March 20, 1904, she was married to John Tate at Riverview Church. He preceded her in death in 1956. Two sons were born to this union; Archie Lee, of Steedman, Missouri and Melvin, of Fulton. Survivors include the two sons, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by the writer, at the Church of God (Holiness) in Fulton, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. Sister Tate was a long-time member of the Riverview Church until after the death of her husband, when she moved to Fulton, and then attended the church here. It was a privilege to be not only her pastor, but also Bro. Tate's pastor, and to preach both their funeral messages, though there were some seventeen years between their death.

I learned to appreciate the life of this saint of God while still in my first pastorate; and from my observation and from the testimony of many, many others, she never failed to live for the Master under all circumstances. She loved her God, and was willing to serve Him, regardless of what this life had to offer her.

Her little home was always open to God's ministers. She served a bountiful table, and testimony will be missed, but her presence with the Master makes heaven a little richer. I thank God for having known this precious life, and to have heard the prayers she could pray. It was a blessing to be in her home and witness a life lived for Christ. Written by a pastor who still greatly misses her, Brother E. G. Garrett.
