DEATH CLAIM GEORGE W. RAY - Adams County Man Expires Following Paralytic Stroke
George Wesley Ray, 76, life long resident of Adams County died at his home near Pleasant Mills in St. Marys township, at 11:55 o'clock Sunday night following a stroke of paralysis he suffered last Wednesday. His condition had been critical since that time.
Mr. Ray was a farmer all his life. He resided in this city for 7 years, and 2 years ago moved in a farm near Pleasant Mills where he resided until his death. He was active in church work and was a member of the Baptist church in this city. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge.
The deceased was born near Salem, September 4, 1858, the son of Levi and Anna Barbara Eley-Ray. He was united in marriage to Minerva Fleetwood on February 7, 1885.
Surviving is the widow, three sons, C. W. Ray of Berne; Harry and Leland Ray of Pleasant Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Cora Winans, at home, Mrs. Mary Fuller of Sherwood, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; a brother L. P. Ray of Portland, and a half brother, Andrew Ray of Willshire, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the home, and at 10 o'clock at the Pleasant Mills Baptist church. Rev. Frank Johnson of Berne will officiate and burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
