Robert Wilson Grass was born April 13, 1925 at Jasonville, Indiana, a son of Leburn and Zella Gadberry Grass. He married Doris Graf January 1, 1950 at Donnellson, Iowa, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Eugene "Gene" Grass of Urbana, Terry Grass and wife Mary of St. Louis, MO, Annette Bryant of New Orleans, LA, Dennis Grass of Osaka, Japan, Anita Daubs of Lerna, Marc Grass and wife Carol of Trilla and Roger Grass and wife LaDonna of Pflugerville, TX. He also leaves his grandchildren, Anna Grass, Marissa Grass, Sarah Grass, Wesley Grass, Kenji Grass, Kyle Daubs, Jason Grass, Adam Grass, Derek Grass and Laura Grass. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Kayoko "Chris" Yamamoto.

Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a 1947 graduate of Purdue University and was employed by Ameren CIPS until his retirement in 1990. Bob was a life member of Keokuk Lodge #29 AF & AM, the High Twelve and the Eagles Lodge in Mattoon. He also was a life member of the Charleston Gun Club. Bob was quite active with the Boy Scouts of America having been instrumental in establishing Cub Scout packs in Keokuk as well as Mattoon. He was extremely involved with Boy Scout Troop 57 in Mattoon having served in capacities of Scoutmaster, past Executive Chairman and Merit Badge Counselor and was recently honored with the Fifty Year Achievement Award. Bob was continually active in the communities he lived in having served as a member of the Keokuk, Iowa City Council and by being involved as a tornado spotter for the Civil Defense unit in Mattoon. Bob's first love was his family, particularly his grandchildren. He delighted in taking them on fishing expeditions or just spending time with them. He was a lover of the great outdoors and delighted in gardening, travelling, canoeing and hunting for such wild game as wild boar, prairie dog, duck and rabbit. He also enjoyed photography and working at his computer where he was known to make cards for various occasions.
