William lived with his step mother Ann (Hough) at least until 1860. He marries Elizabeth Sproull by 1862 when their daughter, Elizabeth, was born. A marriage record has not been located.
William and Elizabeth cannot be located in the 1870 U.S. Census record, but their daughter is living with William's sister, Phoebe Phillips.
He returns to Lake County by 1880 where he is found living with his daughter and her husband James Stocks. Elizabeth and her family remove to Nebraska and William takes up residence with his sister Catherine Williams in Winfield, Lake County, Indiana where he dies.
