THE DEATH OF JENNIE & WILLIAM BREDBURG
Mrs. Jennie S. Bredberg , widow of N. L. Bredberg, died at 3 o’clock yesterday morning at the home of her son, William N. Bredberg, of Yorktown, Lauramie township. The son died at noon yesterday. Both the mother and son were born in the neighborhood where they died. Mrs. Bredberg was 72 years old and had been ill for two years. The immediate cause of her death was paralysis. The son had been in poor health for many years and became critically ill about ten days ago. He was 52 year old. In 1909 Mrs. Bredberg and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. The husband died just a year ago. Mrs. Bredberg and her son were members of the Methodist church at Stockwell and were held in high esteem in the community. The mother’s maiden name was Jennie Oyler and she was a daughter of William Oyler, a Lauramie township pioneer. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Emma Cosby, of Crawfordsville, and Mrs. Ollie Shumaker, of Clark’s Hill. The son is survived by his two sisters, a widow and two children.

NOTES: Jennie's real name was Sarah Jane. She used either or both names during her lifetime. Her father William was born in April 1804 in Hawkhurst, Kent, England and christened there on May 27, 1804. He was the son of Samuel and Elizabeth Oyler. His first marriage on 10/12/1826 was to Mary Evenden/Evendean (supposedly of Evendean Castle); in Frittenden, Kent, England. He was her squire. No records have been found for the location of the birth of their daughter, Mary. Their daughter Elizabeth was born in Head-corn, Kent County, England. William and Mary and their two daughters, Mary (age 3)and Elizabeth (age 1)came to America about 1830 on the ship Robert Zaur. After Mary's death, he married (in the following order): Elizabeth Hollensby OR Harriet Holtensbre: their child may have been Sarah Jane (Jennie) who was born in April 1840 (her tombstone lists her as being born in 1842); records vary as to the name of her mother. William then married a woman named Mary about 1846. By 1853 he was married to Mary Ann Dobell/Davill in Tippecanoe County, Indiana and had four children by that marriage. William then married a widow with the last name of Moore; then Mary Bully on 12/5/1856; and Rosana Helen on 12/3/1866. William had a store in Cincinnati, Ohio and on October 31, 1836 applied for citizenship there.
