Wife of "Dutch" John C. Gwinnup. She was rumored to be a Native American "princess," but this has not been confirmed (Source: "Gwinnup's from Coast to Coast," 1999 Edition.) It is likely that she and John met in the Lancaster area of Pennsylvania and were believed to be married about 1805. There first child, George "III" was born in Pennsylvania in about 1807. Shortly after the birth of George, she and John moved with his parents to Anderson Township, Hamilton County, Ohio. By 1821, the John and Theodocia and their family had moved to Rush County, Indiana. She and John had 9 to 11 children, depending upon sources used.

Apparently in some records, Theodocia is sometimes spelled Theodosia. She apparently could not write, based on signatures found on deeds.
