Virginia Rose McVay, 97, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Saturday evening, June 10, 2017, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. A memorial visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 2 P.M. Cremation has taken place and a private burial was held at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Virginia Rose Wilson was born on December 5, 1919 in Irving, Iowa, the fifth of ten children to George and Rose (Staelens) Wilson. She married Ernest Gorsch on November 30, 1937 in Marengo, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Leon and Patricia. She later married Donald McVay and they were married for 22 years.

Virginia was a homemaker and had also worked in the home healthcare field for several years. She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and working with flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Patricia (Dennis) Hasenbank of Maquoketa, IA, and Leon (Louise) Gorsch of Davis, IL; 8 grandchildren, Calvin (Heidi) Willson, Crystal (Scott) Burmeister, Terry Hasenbank, Teresa (Kevin) Skinner, Dennis Hasenbank Jr., Denise (Wesley) Abbott, Lon (Rebecca) Gorsch and Larry (Michelle Sayset) Gorsch; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister Elnora Schwab of Cedar Rapids, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers George and Charles Wilson, and sisters Edna Kouba, Bernice Papesh, Arilla Prichard, Josephine Arens, Arlene Vileta, and Dorothy Walton.
