Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Vaughn, 40, were held Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 27, at the First Methodist Church of Paton. The pastor, Rev. William B. Tomlinson, officiated. Vocal music was by Doyle Carlson, accompanied by Mrs. Duane Manning. Interment was at the Paton Township Cemetery. Pall bearers included Charles Powell, Charles Fields, John Lawton, Clarence Baker, Mel Shanda and Bert McCollum.

Dorothy Ruth, daughter of Alfred and Lilean Benoit, was born Dec. 11, 1921, at Corley, Iowa. She passed away Nov. 25, 1962, at Jefferson.

She was raised and attended school at Harlan, graduating there in 1939. After graduation she worked in the telephone office at Harlan.

On Aug. 6, 1942, she was united in marriage to Bernard Vaughn at Harlan. To this union three children were born: Karen Marie of Des Moines, Gary Edward and Debra Ann, both at home. The couple farmed near Logan and Hubbard, and for the last eleven years they have farmed near Paton, where she lived at the time of her death.

Mrs. Vaughn attended the Methodist Church at Paton where she was active in the WSCS. She was an active worker in the 4-H clubs and a member of the Neighbors Club.

Preceding her in death were her father and one sister, Helen.

Surviving are her husband and three children; her mother, Mrs. Lilean Benoit of Clinton; one sister, Mrs. Howard (Gladys) Neeley of Clinton; four brothers: Robert, Lester and Merle Benoit all of Clinton, and Harold of Harlan; 11 nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
