He was part owner of the Cole and Eastman Service Station in McLane for 20 years, retiring in 1967. He previously worked for the Pennsylvania Highway Department and the former J.F. Britton Co. He was a member of the McLane Baptist Church for more than 50 years, serving on various church boards and singing in the men's quartet. He was a past member of the General McLane School Board. He enjoyed Ford Model A automobiles.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Shearer Cole, whom he married Sept. 4, 1929, and who died on June 6, 1984; his second wife, Nina Ryan Cole, whom he married Nov. 6, 1990, and who died on July 16, 1996; two brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Kelly and her husband, Bill, of McKean; two stepchildren, Kathleen Miller and her husband, Ken, and Richard Ryan and his wife, Becky, all of Waterford; two sisters, Mildred Martin of Union City and Charlotte Lewis and her husband, Ralph, of Waterford; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at McLane Cemetery.
