Elizabeth Emmeline Fulcher .................... ................ Anderson Locklin Fuller

Elizabeth "Emmeline" Fulcher, was born April 28, 1830 in Redland, TX (which county, I'm not sure). She is a daughter of John Fulcher (1798-1859) and Mary Josephine Hayes (1806-1871) who are both buried in the Locklin Cemetery, San Gabriel, Milam Co., TX. Her Uncle, James H Fulcher, was married to Mary Elizabeth Fokes who married Alteman Livingston Locklin after the death of James.

Emmeline 1st married, 1847, John H Anderson, who was born about 1818 in North or South Carolina. They had at least 6 children, 2 of which are also interred in the Locklin Cemetery - Lewis W and Francis Theodore "Frank" Anderson. John and Emmeline were enumerated in the 1850 Milam Co., TX Census and in the 1860 Bell Co., TX Census. Evidently John died before the 1870 Bell Co., TX census where E E Anderson was enumerated as the head of household.

Mother of (by John H Anderson) Lewis W (1849-1872), Martha H (abt 1853), John (abt 1855), Franklin Theodore "Frank" (1858-1889), Mary (abt 1861) and Albert (abt 1866) Anderson.

Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson is listed on the 1870-1871 Bell Co., Tax Roll. Taxes assessed on 190 acres, value of $750.00 - Original Grantee J. Fulcher. She is then listed as Mrs. E E Anderson on the Bell Co., TX Tax Roll of 1872, taxes assessed on 190 acres, with the original grantee shown as John Fulcher (assumed, by me, to be her father).

Now....according to an excerpt of Samuel Griffith Locklin's (my great grandfather) manuscript about the Locklin family and the History of Milam Co., TX, Samuel's grandfather, William Lawson Locklin Sr married Emeline Fulcher after the death of his 1st wife, Nancy Mercer Locklin. The excerpt reads, exactly as he wrote it:
grand father left georgia in 1844 but did not get here until 1845 and stoped near where uncle Peters fort was but did not stay at one place long at a time he first stoped on granmothers legue and then moved further up the river some six or seven miles and then moved on the Dan Robinson league then to old Freezout where he lived until after the civil war then he bought the dodd tract of land and lived the rest of his life while there "he lost his wife and after a few years he married Emeline Fulcher a daughter of john Fulcher who was a brother to mothers first husband james Fulcher."

Therefore, the deductive reasoning is that Elizabeth Emmeline Fulcher Anderson married William Lawson Locklin Sr, sometime between Jan 12, 1870 (the date Nancy Mercer Locklin died) and Feb. 19, 1873 (the date William Lawson Locklin Sr died). I have found no marriage record for W L Locklin Sr to E E Fulcher or E E Anderson. But, I have found the marriage record for E Locklin to B Fuller on Sept. 5, 1876 in Bell Co., TX. Interestingly, B Fuller must have died before the 1880 census, as they are never enumerated together and I do not find a B Fuller in the Bell Co., TX Censuses. However, Emmeline or E E Fuller was enumerated in the 1880 Bell Co., TX Census, living in the household of her son, Frank, daughter-in-law Elmira. and her youngest son, Albert. I have not found her in any of the 1900 censuses, but she was enumerated in the 1910 Williamson Co., TX Census, living in the household of her brother, Francis Theodore Fulcher.

In Jan. 2000, Bobbie Duffey Dykes posted a query on the Milam Co., TX Ancestry board regarding an item that was in her Great Uncle's truck. It was a news piece about a lady named Emmeline Fuller. There was a photo and the piece was written by Mrs. Ethel Locklin Boswell. The exact text reads:

"Mrs. Emmeline Fuller, familiarly called Grandma Fuller, was born on the 28th of April, 1830, in a place called Redland, Tex. She has been married four times and was the mother of ten children, none of whom are living. She makes her home with her nephew in Granger.

She has been a member of the Christian Church for many years and in spite of her eighty-four years attended regularly until last year.

She has been active for one of her age, but is growing very feeble."

Bobbie's after-note read: I have no idea which paper it appeared in, nor the date it appeared. Also, on a handwritten scrap of paper inside the J.H. FULCHER Bible, her name and birth date was listed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~O~~~~~~~~~~~
I have not found a death record or a TX Death Certificate for her, but the dates on this memorial for Mrs. E. E. Fuller of 1830 and March 27, 1917 appear to be accurate and the above is a logical and reasonable deduction.
