Mrs. John Martin died at her home east of Graham last Monday morning. Services were officiated by Rev. J.E. Evans, pastor of the Christian Church in Graham at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.L. Reed. The remains were laid to rest in the family burial ground on Wednesday officiated by Rev. Jennings, pastor of the Christian Church at McKinney.

Miss Emily C. Straughan was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee, near Lawrenceburg. She came to Texas in early childhood with her parents locating near McKinney. In 1859, she was married to John Martin to which union was born 15 children, all of whom, except three girls are still living. She professed faith in Jesus in early childhood and lived a devout Christian life. Mr. and Mrs. John Martin moved to Young County in 1900.

Survived by her husband; seven sons, five daughters, three sistesr, one brother, 30 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. All were at her bedside, except two daughters who were wsick and could not come.
