Greenbrier Deeds: Dec. 1817, Elizabeth Patterson widow of James Patterson decd, and James Patterson and wife Sarah, John Patterson and wife Elizabeth, John Dunken and wife Elizabeth, John Kippers and wife Rebecca, James Hatchon (Kitchen) and wife Jane, heirs to the said James Patterson decd, of Greenbrier Co. VA, to Joseph Martin and Charles Caraway of same, that the aforesaid widow and heirs for $1 relinquish all their right etc. to land in Greenbrier County Virginia on Pattersons Creek, being a branch of Muddy Creek, adj. north bank of a drain that leads from the lick, ... corner to the patent line, crossing the bottom branch below the sulphur springs, containing 24 acres by survey, the land being part of a survey of 490 (four hundred ninty) acres patented in the name of James Patterson 17 March 1789, which said 24 acres is known by the name of Nancy Pattersons Sulphur Springs tract.
