Charles Aristotle Lychrgus Isiah Serostris Thales Euclides Socrates Alistus Lewis Williams was born in Denver, Misouri on March 19, 1877, the eldest child of Timothy Amzy and Nancy (Steele) Williams. He was said to have been given his eleven names by his grandfather, Senacherib Williams, who had a passion for Greek mythology. His mother's family was of Scottish descent and his father's was probably Welsh. He is said to have been born in a covered wagon while the family was relocating from Indiana to Missouri.
On July 19, 1897 Charley married Rebecca Jane Ramsey in Buffalo, Missouri. Three children were born to this marriage: Raymond, about 1900, Dicie, 1903, and Nell in 1912.
Charley moved his family west in 1917, working on the railroad in Helena, Montana. He also worked as a newspaper reporter for a time. They moved on to Hayden Lake, Idaho, where their elder children were married.
Nell was in the 6th grade when the family finally moved to Prosser, WA where Charley farmed asparagus and ran a small trucking company. After their last child left for college and subsequently was married, Becky and Charley moved to Yakima, WA, where they set up a large farm and Charley ran a greenhouse from which to sell bedding plants.
After his wife died in 1952, Charley was unable to run the farm, and lived for a time with his youngest daughter before having to go to live in a nursing home. He died on December 10, 1958, the very day that his great grandaughter, Kelly (Nell's granddaugher) was born. He shares a tombstone with his wife at Tahoma Cemetery, Yakima, WA
