Howard Allen, 56, life-long resident of this community died at his home in the Maple Grove district at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. He had been in failing health for some time and seriously sick for several weeks. Mr. Allen had many friends here and in the Aurand district, where he lived for many years, later moving to his present location. He took an active interest in community affairs and was at one time supervisor of Tekonsha township. He is survived by his wife, two sons, Ilo of Tekonsha and Lloyd of Coldwater and a daughter, Mrs. Russell Aldrich of Tekonsha, also by three grandchildren and two brothers, Frank of Rockford, Ill., and Hugh of Tekonsha. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Funeral Service
The funeral of Howard Allen was held at the home Wednesday afternoon. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends, many coming from away. Many beautiful floral offerings expressed the sympathy of the donors. Rev. A. C. Schue of the Tekonsha Union church officiated, giving Scripture reading and prayer, taking his text from Amos 5:8: "Seek him that turns the shadow of death into the morning." Relatives Ilo A., Llyod[sic], Hugh and Frank Allen, Russell Aldrich and Clarence Tingay acted as bearers. Burial was at Oakridge cemetery, Marshall. Among those from away who attended were: Frank Allen and son, Glenn, of Rockford, Ill.; Fayette Aurand, Lansing; Mrs. Rena Wheeler, Medina, N. Y.; Mrs. H. O. Aurand, Mrs. Pearl Mudica and daughter, Hazel, Mrs. Eva Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Tingay, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mahrle, Mrs. Ida Suttherland, Delos Britten, Clare Jennings, of Marshall; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Tobin and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howe, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Blodgett, and Fred Blodgett, of Homer; Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Tobin, Mrs. Raphael Rainey, Mrs. Mabel Van Order, Mrs. Dana Weed, Mrs. Nina Angel, Albert allen, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Biddle, of Battle Creek; Mrs. Jessie Blanchard, Mrs. Fred Blanchard, Clarence Blodgett, Mrs. Allie Allen, Mrs. Sabina Green, John Heath, of Albion; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook, Athens; Mrs. William Burns, Mrs. Clarence Beck and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Allen of Coldwater.
