Joseph A. DiStaola Jr., 45, of 711 Tulip St., Liverpool, died Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mr. DiStaola was a native of Syracuse . He was a deputy with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department for the past 19 1/2 years.
Mr. DiStaola was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1962.
Surviving are his wife, the former Phyllis Incassati; a son, Joseph A. III; a daughter, Maria DiStaola; a stepson, Angelo Piscutto; a stepdaughter, Josephine Piscutto; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. DiStaola Sr. of Syracuse ; two brothers, Richard S. of Syracuse and Stephen A. of Liverpool; two sisters, Gloria Maylo of Kirkville and Stephanie Cook of Syracuse ; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 514 Turtle St.
