"The Wills Point (Tex) Chronicle", relating to the death of Samuel Brantley, the fourth child of Hilliard and Emeline S. Brantley. It reads: "Sam Brantley, died in Los Angeles, Calif., Monday morning, May 8, 1933. Funeral services were held Wednesday, conducted by the pastor of the Baptist church and attended by many friends. Many beautiful flowers were in evidence as tokens of love and sympathy. Interment took place in Evergreen cemetery, First Street, Los Angeles, Calif. Sam Brantley was born Nov. 8, 1856, in Evergreen, Ala. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Brantley. He came with his parents to Panola County, Texas, in the early pioneer days. Later the family moved to Van Zandt county where he spent most of his life and for several years served as mail carrier from Wills Point to Canton. He will be remembered by many friends here. A few years ago he and his sister, Miss Texanna Brantley, moved to Los Angeles, where he resided until his death. His health had been bad for several years but he bore his suffering with patience. He was a faithful member of the Baptist church, a kind brother, and a friend to all. He is survived by one sister, Miss Texanna Brantley of Los Angeles, Calif. The many friends extend sympathy to her in her bereavement."
