Lewis Holbrook was born in St. Lawrence County, New York Oct. 12, 1821; died at his residence in Kendallville Nov. 27, 1895, aged 74 years 1 month and 15 days. He was one of the pioneer settlers of Noble County, having moved with his parents to Indiana in 1833. The journey was made by way of Toledo, partly by steam navigation and the rest of the way in wagons. His church home was with the Wesleyan Methodists at LaOtto. He was bereft of the wife of his youth some 30 years ago and was married to Mrs. Loretta Whitford in 1868, who preceded him in death in 1891. Four sons and one daughter reside in Ohio and 2 daughters in Indiana.
