OBITUARY: The Town-Talk, Alexandria LA, 16-17 May 2001
Celebration of life for Earl Abels, Sr. will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Jay Coleman officiating. Interment will be at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Earl Abels, Sr., age 88, of Pollock, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 at The Oaks Care Center in Pineville. He was born on March 27, 1923 in Bienville, Louisiana. He was of the Assembly of God faith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and then went to work in the lumber industry.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Linnie Plunkett Abels and Willis Gene Abels; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Abels Malone and Larry Malone; one brother, Charles "Louie" Abels. Those left to cherish his memories are his sons Earl Abels, Jr. and wife Connie of Ball, Terry Abels of Pollock. Four grandchildren, Stacey Malone Coleman and husband Jay of Denham Springs, Stephanie Abels Fuglaar and husband Chad of Pineville, Kimberly Malone Creamer and husband Jonathan of Pineville, and Stephen Abels and wife Alicia of Ball. Also survived by twelve great-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Annie Abels.
Pallbearers to serve are Stephen Abels, Chad Fuglaar, Mike Spillman, Jonathon Creamer, Tyler Coleman, Reece Coleman, Bryce Coleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Luke Gauthier and Paul Yost. The family would like to thank The Oaks Care Service and Guardian Hospice for their compassionate care and support during this time.
