Rev. Wm Ryerson, recently elected to the Canadian Parliament, has been deeply afflicted by the loss of his two nieces. They were bathing in the Grand River, while their mother was visiting at a house in the vicinity. One of the girls succeeded in crossing the river, the current of which is very rapid, and called upon her sister to follow. In doing so, the latter fell down, and the sister coming to her rescue, both were carried away by the current and drowned. It will be remembered that Dr. Ryerson resigned his office and profession as a minister of the Gospel in the Wesleyan connection in Canada, a few months since, after a service of near forty years. The resignation was necessary to his political promotion, as no minister of the Gospel could become a member of the Canadian Parliament.
