Margaret Eckroat passed away May 16, 2011. She was born in Oklahoma City December 25, 1930 to William Joseph "Joe" Flynn and Marion Bradley Flynn. She was educated at John Carroll School from the 1st thru the 12th grade. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Arthur V. Eckroat. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Bill and Pat Flynn and her cherished son, David Patrick Eckroat. She is also survived by her son Mike Eckroat and his wife Lohoma and son Don Eckroat and his wife Janice; grandchildren include Jennifer Eckroat, Ryan Eckroat and his wife Jennifer, Melissa Eckroat, Dirk Eckroat and his wife Kristin; her precious great grandchildren are Abby and Emma Eckroat. Margaret was a family maker with many talents. Her sewing prowess was unmatched by any "store-bought" clothes. Many of the clothes she made were showcased on her husband and sons as well as the hundreds of dolls she created starting from the kiln, hand painted and dressed. Her hand-decorated Faberge egg collection was admired by all. Margaret was also an accomplished artist using watercolor and oils. Around the house talents included wall papering, painting, tile laying, furniture upholstering and refinishing. A two-year restoration of the famous Frankie & Johnnie Bar was one of Margaret's achievements admired by people from all over the world. Margaret devoted countless hours to her church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, as well as other communities, including St. Robert's Circle in the Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, Knights of the Holy Sepulcre and the Archdiocese Conference of Catholic Women. Earlier she established a library at Corpus Christi Grade School. She spent many hours watching her sons participate in sporting events, little league thru high school. Margaret enjoyed traveling throughout the world as well as attending Lyric Theater, the Pops and Revelers Dance Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the Bishop John Carroll Library Fund are appreciated. The Evening Prayer Service will be Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 20 at 10 a.m. Both services will be at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
