"Her death notice in the Waterloo Courier Newspaper, April 4 1888 page 8" "Died in the city, April 1st, Mrs Selenda McRae, age 93 years and one month. Nine children survive her, 4 sons and 5 daughters, the eldest 71 years old. Mrs McRae has lived many years with her daughter, Mrs J.R. Hammond, in whose care she died. None of the other children were present at her funeral"
