ALLEN
John R. Allen Jr., a longtime resident of Bon Secour, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007.
In past years he was a local businessman, and retired from Civil Service after 30 years as an instrument technician. He was an avid fisherman and devoted family man.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, beloved father and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lewis Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Busby Allen; two sons, John R. "Sonny" Allen III and Richard J. (Sherri) Allen; daughter, Mary Allen (Doug) Phillips; sister, Juanita Anderson; brother, Thomas S. Allen; four grandchildren, Regie, Andrew, Morgan and Johnny; one great-granddaughter, Catie; one great-grandson, Jack; five step-children, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 29 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 30 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon Secour.
Pallbearers were Arvia Allen, Dewitt Anderson, Reggie Anderson, Andrew Allen, Regi Allen and Doug Phillips.
