Abraham & Martha met on the boat coming from their native land. Martha was going to Blue Earth to join her brother. They married 7 Dec 1875 in Blue Earth, Faribault, MN. In 1923 they retired from farming and moved to Madison where they built a new home in the east part of the city.


This info was taken from a book called Native of Nordfjord History in America - Eighth Chapter - Madison, South Dakota - by Knud Pedersen & Abraham Severson. It was written back in the 1930's in Norwegian. I (S Meyer) translated it so it could have errors:).

Abraham Siverson, brother to Lars and Christian, was born on the Rake farm in Olden, Norway. His wife is Martha (Monsdatter) Nesje from Opstryn, Norway, and they arrived here from Blue Earth, MN in 1880. They were living in Lake County, SD on the homestead (160 acres), but they built a house in Madison and reside there. He is now the owner of 320 acres. They have 11 children, 2 boys and 9 girls: Olive, married to Frank Jarvis, is living in Timmath, CO; Matilda, married to Hans Westby, railroad employee; Amelia, married to Walter Coppin, railroad employee; Christianna, married to Irving D. Lee, Electrician; Sophie, married to Wesley Davis , who took part in WW1 in France. The last four named live in Madison. Rodene, was married to Chester Terrill, but they got a divorce and she is living in Tacoma, WA now; Mina, is married to Roy Waring, a Traveling salesman, they live in Sioux Falls, SD; Josephine, married to professor Charles C. Triplett, lives in Elk Centro, CA; Martin, married to Emma Hanson, lives on the farm (homestead); and Selina is at home, with parents, in Madison. Sivert died in 1902.
