JOHN W. BELCHER
John W. (Clyde) Belcher, 79, of 1233 Princeton Ave., Princeton, died at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Veterans' hospital in Beckley after a long illness.
Born May, 1897, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Belcher. He was a retired miner, a member of the UMWA Local 6039 at Doc, and a member of the Oliver Avenue Church of God in Princeton [WV]. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Steele Belcher in 1973.
Surviving are five sons, Jack Belcher of Fayetteville, N.C., Denny Belcher, John Belcher and Roy Belcher, all of Beckley [WV], William Belcher of Rupert; five daughters, Mrs. Melvin Basham of Lashmeet [WV], Mrs. Woodrow Clark of Olmstead Falls, Ohio, Mrs. Florian Walker of Bloomington, Ind., Mrs. Daniel Huffard of Springfield, Ohio, Mrs. Edmund Riffe of Crab Orchard [WV]; three brothers, Ernest R. Belcher of Spanishburg [WV], Craft Belcher and Walter Belcher, both of Detroit, Mich., four sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Martin of Princeton, Mrs. Kathleen Blevins of Glenwood Park [WV], Mrs. Bernice Venable of Chula Vista, CA., Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of Baltimore, Md.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stollie Parsons and Rev. Kermit Keys officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 until 9 p.m.
