Howell Cobb (1815-1868) married Mary Ann Lamar (1818-1889) , daughter of Zachariah Lamar. Gen. Howell Cobb was the son of John Addison Cobb (1783-1855) and Sarah Robinson Rootes (1792-1812). The Howell Cobb (1772-1818) that married Martha A. Jacqueline Rootes (1786-1853) were Gen. Howell Cobb's cousins. Howell and Mary Ann are buried in the Howell Cobb family plot at Oconee Hill that is located on the river side, below Gov. Wilson Lumpkin's plot. Neither Howell or Mary Ann remarried. Howell died while he was married to Mary Ann.
