Funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 10, at 8 p.m. at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel, Rural Retreat, with the Rev. Vince Krauss officiating. A committal service and entombment will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rural Retreat.
He was born Nov. 2, 1917, in Wyhte County, a son of the late Ray and Lessie Sage Vaught. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Della Earhart; and a brother, Roy Vaught.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche H. Vaught; a daughter, Shirley Hull of Rural Retreat; three sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Rita Vaught of Wytheville, Danny and Jane Vaught of Rural Retreat, Charles and Rhonda Vaught of Wytheville; a sister, Edna V. Keyes of Rural Retreat; three brothers, Carl Vaught of Rural Retreat, Emory Vaught of Toledo, Ohio, and Neal Vaught of Winston-Salem, NC; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special friends, Junior and Nancy Brown of Elk Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Service or the Alzheimer's Association.
