PIONEER OF COUNTY DIES

James B. Weaver, beloved pioneer of San Luis Obispo, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday evening at the age of 71 years.


A native of Sonoma County, he had come here when a young man of 19 and for the past 52 years he has been a well known figure in the community's history.

He was one of the charter members of Park Lodge No. 40, Knights of Pythias and for 30 years had taken an active part and sincere interest in that organization. His fellow members are expected to attend the services in a body.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. F. G. Anderson of San Luis Obispo and Mrs. A. H. Turney of Arroyo Grande; two brothers, W. D. Weaver of Fresno and John Weaver of Pt. Richmond; and two granddaughters, Miss Nona Anderson and Miss Nadine Turney.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Richardson Funeral Home with the Rev. F. J. Hart officiating. Interment will be in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery.

Was Father of Mrs. A. H. Turney of This City; Had Lived in This County 52 Years.


James B. Weaver, 71, pioneer of San Luis Obispo County and father of Mrs. Eula Turney of this city, passed away suddenly at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at a San Luis Obispo hospital, where he had been taken a few hours previously when it was discovered he was suffering with pneumonia.

Mr. Weaver was born in Sonoma county and came to this county 52 years ago, at the age of 19. For several years he acted as stage driver on the route between San Luis Obispo and Cambria and has been a well known figure in the history of the county.

He was a charter member of Park Lodge No. 40, Knights of Pythias, of San Luis Obispo, and for 30 years had taken an active interest in that organization.

Mr. Weaver is survived by two daughters, Mrs. F. G. Anderson of San Luis Obispo, with whom he had been making his home for the past two years, and Mrs. A. H. Turney of this city; two brothers, W. D. Weaver of Point Richmond, and two granddaughters, Nona Anderson of San Luis Obispo and Nadine Turney of Arroyo Grande.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Richardson funeral parlors in San Luis Obispo, with Rev. Fred J. Hart officiating. Interment will be in the San Luis Obispo Odd Fellows cemetery.

SERVICE HELD FOR PIONEER

Simple but impressive services were held for the late James B. Weaver Friday afternoon at the Richardson funeral home with the Rev. F. J. Hart officiating.

Scores of friends from all of San Luis Obispo county attended the funeral, and beautiful floral offererings marked the high esteem which he and his family were held.

He was the father of Mrs. F. G. Anderson of San Luis Obispo and Mrs. A. H. Turney of Arroyo Grande; a brother of (sic) W. D. Weaver of Fresno and John Weaver of Pt. Richmond and the grandfather of Miss Nona Anderson and Miss Nadine Turney.

Mr. Weaver was a native on Sonoma county, but has been a resident of this city for the past 52 years. He was 71 years old at the time of his passing.

He was a charter member of Park Lodge, No. 40, Knights of Pythias, and had been an active participant in activities of that organization for the past 30 years.

Pallbearers were Mark Stephens, George W. Kilbern, C. D. St. Clair, Charles Younglove, H. D. Oiler and R. R. T. Woods. Interment was in the Lawn cemetery.
