Mrs. D. B. McPhail, 48, of 176 Arbor Hill Dr. Jackson Miss., died about 6:30 p.m. Monday. She was stricken in a local grocery store and was rushed to the Baptist Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival. She had been in failing health for some time, but her sudden death was unexpected.
A native of Sumrall, she was the former Minnie Mae Loften, daughter of the late John T. Lofton and Vicki Evens Lofton.
Mrs. McPhail was a member of Paul Truitt Baptist Church, and a member of Radiant Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She is preceded in death by her only child, Norma Jean McPhail(b. 7-9-1933 to 8-30-1952) in a plane crash in Baton Rouge, La.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Buford McPhail, part owner of M & N Equipment Service, three sisters, Mrs. A.C. Williams of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Ruby Jennings of Jackson, Miss. and Mrs. Dorothy Lee Stewart of Harrisburg, Penn.
Services will be at Wright and Ferguson Chapel, with Rev. J.L. Reeves, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Miss. on Thursday 3 p.m.
