John served in the War of 1812 from Ohio. He married Mary Lingenfelter on Apr. 20, 1820 in Stark Co. Ohio. They came to Montgomery County about 1840 and settled in Irving Twp. They were the parents of 10 children, Elizabeth (Noah Lipe), Jakob (Catherine Carriker), Margaret Ann (Daniel Valentine Harkey), Mary (Martin A. Ludewick), Adam (#1 Elizabeth Sanders, #2 Mary J. _____), Daniel (Lydia Hefley), Sarah (Augustus Miller), Martha "Mattie" (Edward Tester), John J. (#1 Harriet N. Harkey, #2 Harriet N.
