George William Buckle was one of 11 children born to Thomas Charles Buckle and his wife Mollie Leona Jones.

In 1929 George married Nora Ethel Smith, daughter of George William McClellan Smith and Nancy Jane McIntosh, in Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon. They had three children: Dorla Dean born in 1930, Richard Veldon born in 1931, and Ezra Joel born in 1933. Nora died in 1962.

In 1963 George married Lilly Sophia Svensson Chaldin in Roseburg, Douglas County, Oregon. Lilly died in 1987. In 1993 he married Dorothy Virginia Hawkins in Springfield, Lane County, Oregon. Dorothy was his surviving widow when he died in 1999.

"He worked as a logger and tree topper and took third place in a tree-topping contest at the Albany Timber Carnival.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing and traveling. He was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Velden and Joel; a daughter, Dorla Van Epps; three brothers, Edwin, Ivan, and Harvey; and a sister, Betty May Fortune. Two wives, Nora and Lilly, died previously.
Memorial service held Dec. 15, 1999."
