Jay Tyler Deyo died at his home at Spring Glen, July 19th, after a ten days' illness. The deceased was born in Cooksburg, Greene County, May 17th, 1850, and was the son of the late Daniel Deyo and Elizabeth Tyler. In 1868, the family moved to Spring Glen. The deceased was well known throughout this section. On October 31st, 1881, he married Cordelia Rosecrans, of Sandburg Bend. She died in 1884. The funeral services were held at the Spring Glen Methodist Episcopal Church, by Rev. L. F. Piper, July 13th, 2 p.m. A prayer services was had at the house by Rev. L. C. Canfield.

The church choir sang two selections. The bearers were Emory, John, Lewis and Sanford Tice, Lewis Canfield and Elmer Engersoll, all friends of long standing. Several beautiful floral tributes showed the esteem of his friends and neighbors. Burial was in the family plot at Phillipsport. Surviving members of the family are a daughter, Bessie R. Deyo; three sisters, Minnie, widow of Herman Foster, Walden, N.Y.; Hattie, wife of George S. Rosecrans, Kane, Pa.; and Alice, wife of A. S. Freer, Middletown, N.Y.
