Real Estate And Insurance Agent, Active In Scouting

Jay C. Dennis,Jr., of Providence Street, Whitehouse, a real estate and insurance salesman who for many years had been active in the Toledo-area Boy Scout movement and numerous other are organizations, died yesterday in his home.
Mr. Dennis had been engaged in the real estate and insurance since founding his own agency in Whitehouse 38 years ago, in addition he did property appraisals for individuals and for the Lucas County Probate Court for 30 years.
A past president of the Wood County Real Estate Board. the Whitehouse school board and the Whitehouse Businessmen's Club, He was a member of the Ohio Associations of Real Estates Boards,the National Association of Real Estate Board, The Anthoney Wayne Republican Club, The Wakeman Lodge, F&AM, in Waterville, and the Toastmasters International, of which he was past district governor.
He served on the Anthony Wayne school board from 1950 to 1963.Mr. Dennis was a member of the Toledo Area Council of the Boy Scouts, Anthoney Wayne Area Commissioner,Turkey Foot District chairman of the Toledo-area scouts and member of the Area Council Executive Board. Recipient of the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver award. Mr. Dennis was the Toledo Area Council Camporee chairman in 1975.
He was a past commander and acting chaplain of the Whitehouse Post, American Legion, a member of the Whitehouse village council from 1971 to 1981., a past council President and past president of the board of Unity Frist Church, Toledo.
He was a army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, betty, son Clifford, also known as Skip. daughter, Mrs. Joyce Magnusson, brothers Mark and Fred, and sister Mrs Ruth Ganz.
Services will be at 11 a.m.Thursday in the Croll-Peinert Mortuary, Whitehouse, where the body will be after 2 p.m. tomorrow. The Family requests that any tributes be in the form of contributions to Divine Science Federation International
