Lima Contractor Was State Leader
Adolph M. Finckh, 79, president and treasurer of the National Cornice Co., 225 S. Union-st, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, at his home, 418 Elmwood-pl. Death followed an illness of two years and was caused by complications.
Finckh was widely known in Lima and thruout Ohio among building contractors. Cornice work on the majority of Lima buildings, as well as schools and churches in the Lima area, was installed by the local concern.
Finckh and his brother, Alexander O., who preceded him in death 15 years ago, established the cornice company in 1902. The first became one of the better known establishments of this type in Ohio.
Mr. Finckh was born in Delphos July 27, 1870. He was educated in the parochial school in that city, and was graduated from the University of Notre Dame in the class of 1889. He was a member of St. John's Catholic church, the Holy Name Society of that parish, and of the Legion of Honor of the Catholic Order of Foresters. His wife, Theresa, preceded him in death in 1928.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. John Benson, Littlerock, Calif., Mrs. T. J. Mahan, Cleveland, Mrs. William Wagner, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Walter Tribolet, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Josephine O'Neil, Chicago, and Mrs. Anna Stallkamp, Delphos, and 10 grandchildren.
Requiem high mass will be sung at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic church, with the Rev. Albert A. Fate, officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane.
The body will be taken from the Cantwell mortuary to the residence late Monday afternoon.
Members of the Catholic Order of Foresters will meet at 7 p.m Tuesday at the Lodge hall and will go in a group to the Finckh home to recite the rosary.
