A lay minister who began his career in 1915 at the age of 18 in Maryland died early this morning at the Hill Farm Nursing Home, Annville. He was the Rev. Aaron C. Reber, 91, a patient there since Saturday. Prior to that time he had resided with his daughter, Mrs. John Gingrich, 3015 Tunnel Hill Rd. The Rev. Mr. Reber was affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. His first assignment was as elder-in-charge at the Ridgely, Maryland, Church of the Brethren. He was transferred as assistant minister to the Palmyra Church of the Brethren in 1924. In 1936 he headed the Palmyra church’s rebuilding committee. The Rev. Mr. Reber was also a retired, businessman, having been a partner in the Reber Sand and. Coal Co., near Jonestown, from 1935 to 1955. His wife, Mrs. Deborah King Reber, a native of Berks County, died in 1964. He is survived by four sons: Dr. Jesse D. Reber, Harrisburg; Dr. Rufus K. and Phares H., both of Hollywood, Fla., and Hylton H., Lebanon; two daughters, Minerva, wife of Horace Storm, Palmyra, and Ada, wife of John Gingrich; 11 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was a native of Bernville. His parents were the late Daniel and Rebecca Smith Reber. He was the last of that immediate family.
