The Union Democrat headline of Eugene's obituary read, "Sonora Family Loses Pet of the Household". He died on a Friday evening following a short illness. The funeral was held from the Burden Chapel at 2 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Porter C. Knudsen officiating. Eugene was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Oliver, five sisters and four brothers. They are: Mrs. Florence Kahl, Rawhide; the Misses Myrtle R., Annabel E., Yubalene Lee, Roberta; George W., Wilsie J., Thomas A., and Frank M. Oliver, all of Sonora.
