Obituary
Angelo Emery, son of Asa and
Betsey Emery, was born in Montville,
Waldo Co., Maine, June 8th, 1838.
While he was still a small boy his
father moved with his family to Ohio,
leaving Maine Aug. 12, 1844. They
first settled in Seneca Co, but in a
few years came to Henry county and
settled in Harrison township on what
is now known as the Jacob Hoy farm, and
here Angelo grew to manhood. Dur-
ing that terrible conflict between north
and south in those well remembered
years, '61 to '65, he responded to the first
call for volunteers, and in his country's
service bravely wore the blue for the
entire four years. He went to Kansas in
'79, and while living there he was a mem-
ber of the G.A.R., and on his return
to Ohio first joined the Oscar P. Ran-
dall Post, of Harrison township, and
later the Loraine Emery Post, of Ma-
linta. Just before his last illness he
was elected Post Commander.
He was married Nov. 1st, 1865, to
Miss Elizabeth Whitright, to them
were born three children, two sons
and one daughter. He died Jan. 22nd,
1902, aged 63 years, 7 months and 14
days. He leaves to mourn their loss
a wife, three children, Dorr, Zula and
Bert, the latter living in Dakota, three
grandchildren and two sisters besides
other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held Sat-
urday, Jan. 25, at the M. E. church in
Grelton, conducted by Rev. W. J.
Dempster, of Napoleon. The deceas-
ed was a very highly esteemed citizen,
and the attendees to render him the
last honors bestowed by living friends
was exceptionally large.

It smiteth low in every heart,
We hear it each and all,
A song of those who answer not,
However we may call.

'Tis hard to take the burden up
When these have laid it down;
They brighten all the joy of life,
They soften every frown

But oh! 'tis good to think of them
When we are troubled sore;
What e'er betides Thy love abides-
Our God forever more.

We desire to express our heartfelt
thanks to neighbors and friends for
their kind assistance and sympathy
during illness and death of our beloved
husband and father, and as we look up-
on the beautiful floral offering we feel
that we are surrounded by friends in-
deed, that have proved that they were
a friend in need.
MRS. ELIZABETH EMERY
AND CHILDREN.
