Raymond was the son of was the son of N.F. and Lila (Crandall) Stovall. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1950. He married Dorothy Meggs on May 21, 1949. They moved to Arizona where he attended horticultural school. He then worked as a diesel mechanic and shop manager and later as a farm foreman, managing several farms. He enjoyed fishing and mowing lawns. He was a resident of Heavener and died there at the age of 83. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Stovall, of the home; son, Donald Stovall and wife, JoAnn, Casa Grande, Ariz.; daughter, Mary Grohoske and husband, Cecil, Lott, Texas; son, Raymond Stovall Jr. and wife, Katherine, Huntington, Ark.; daughter, Mae Crawford, of the home. Also, 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Stovall, Marble Falls, Ark., Jack Stovall, London, Ark., Bill Stovall, Muleshoe, Texas, Bob Stovall, Phoenix, and Buck Stovall, Brazoria, Texas. And, sisters, Francis Jackson, London, and Virginia Cornstubble, Richland Hills, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, N.F. and Lela Stovall; granddaughter, Robin Stovall, and brothers, Andy Stovall, Richard Stovall, Melvin Stovall, Elmer Stovall, Willis Stovall and Jessie Stovall. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Chambers Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Martin officiating. Military honors will be provided by Robert B. Thomas Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1098. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Stovall Jr., Donald Stovall, Chris Stovall, Richard Webb, J.J. Hensley and Clint Crawford.
