Services for Dr. John B. Lindsey, 77, of Ringwood, Ill., will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Schneider-Leucht-Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, with Father Tom Ditro officiating.

Born Nov. 15, 1925, in Lawrenceburg, Ind., the son of John and Marie (nee Herron) Lindsey, he died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, at the Centegra Memorial Medical Center, Woodstock.

Interment will be held privately.

Dr. Lindsey, when 17 year old, volunteered to proudly serve his country as a Marine during World War II. He fought at the battle of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. After the war, he attended medical school and became a podiatrist in 1950, with an office in Elmhurst, where he served the community for 40 years. Hardworking and dedicated to his profession, he worked up until the time of his death, having a tremendous impact on all the lives that he touched.

He was also the president of Midwest Action Cycle of Lake Geneva, which he opened in 1971. Dr. Lindsey was a member of the Richmond Hunt Club, he loved fishing, traveling, playing trumpet and conga drums, chess, practicing medicine and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Lindsey is survived by his wife of 51 years, Terese; sons, John (Orley) Lindsey of McHenry and Ron (Robin) Lindsey of Wauconda; daughter, Pamela Lindsey of Ringwood; stepchildren, Gloria, Susan and Patsy; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
