John H. Jones, son of John and Ellen Jones, was born May 26, 1861, in Anglisia, North Wales.
He immigrated to America alone when 19 years of age , and came to his brother's Owen and Robert near Blue Springs, Neb., in 1880.

He spent a year there, then went to Marshall County, Kansas, where he resided until 1893, with the exception of a few months spent in Iowa and Vermont. He moved to Washington, County, to the present farm south of Haddam.

J. H. Jones and Mirian G. Jones were united in marriage in Westmoreland, Kansas, Oct. 27, 1888, by the Rev. W. W. Kenaff, pastor of the M. E. church. They were blessed with a family of five children, Russell C. of Washington D.C., Jennie Allen of Haddam, Kansas, Wm. J. of Stafford, Kansas, Bessie Gronquist, Alma, Kansas, Arnold R., Army of the United States.

Mr. Jones has been a member of the church since early boyhood, with membership in the Haddam Methodist church for more than 30 years.

On October 27, 1938, Mr. and Mrs. Jones celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, when all their children and grandchildren were present.

This is the first death in this immediate family. To mourn his loss his wife and five children, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Mr. Jones has one brother, Hugh H. Jones living in Oregon.

The following was written by Mrs. J. H. Jones:
Those hands that rest forever were the hands that made our home,
Husband and father, we are so lonely.
We miss you more each day,
But you left us to remember that no one on earth can take your place.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. E. Dixon of Caney, Kansas. Burial was made in the Haddam cemetery.
