Ethel Mae Johnson was born March 2, 1904 to the late Lucile Nixon Fitzpatrick and James Nixon, in Montgomery, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Johnson, two sons James and Johnny Johnson, one daughter Ethel Jean Muse; two nephews James John Jr. and Lee Oden.

God moved again on November 13, 2003 and dispatched his angels from his garden in Montgomery, Alabama, to place Ethel in his bouquet.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age, she joined Old Ship A.M.E. Zion Church, Montgomery, Alabama where she served a lifetime as a faithful member of the Usher Board, Steward Circle Club Missionary Society and Annual Conferences. Member of the Belair Welfare Club for seventy-five years. She attended State Normal High School, Montgomery, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish her memories three devoted sons: Edward (Mamie), George (Maggie) and Bernard Johnson, Montgomery, AL; three faithful daughters: Eddie Mae Massey, Detroit, MI, Willetta Lovejoy and Thelma Johnson, Montgomery, AL; daughter-in-law, Mayola Johnson; one niece, France (Willie) Pleasant; one nephew, James (Quito) Nixon, all of Montgomery, AL; sixteen grandchildren: Annette Walker, Detroit, MI, Rita Newton, Edward Johnson, Mobile, AL, Janet (Ray) Williams, Peachtree City, GA, Marjorie (Herman) Veal, Lockport, IL, Darrell Greene, Montgomery, AL, Diane Anthony, Gloria Welch, Chicago, IL, Dorothy (Donald) Thorn, Shelia Muse all of Montgomery, AL, Charles E. (Bridgette) Johnson, Joyce B. Johnson, Montgomery, AL, Barbara (Richard) Smith, Johnetta Johnson, Montgomery, AL, John F. (Carla) Johnson, Atlanta, GA, Phillip W.
