Nora Barcus

The funeral was held Monday, at United Methodist Church, Mohall, for Mrs. Nora Barcus, 97, who died May 29th at Minot. Rev. Warren Wenzel officiated with burial at the McKinney Cemetery, rural Tolley. Special musical selections were by Mrs. Milton Engebretson and Mrs. Ernest Nelson.
Born Nora Courtney in Greenhill, Indiana, On October 2, 1877, she married George Barcus in Fowler, Indiana on December 28, 1896. They moved to North Dakota in 1902, to the Tolley area where they homesteaded in Roosevelt Township, Renville County. In 1912 they moved to Mohall where Mr. Barcus had been a mail carrier for 35 years. Mr. Barcus died on November 3, 1959. Mrs. Barcus continued to make her home in Mohall, until moving to the Lutheran Home in Minot in 1971. She had been a member of the United Methodist Church and Brandon Busy Bees Homemakers Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Sylvia Duerre, Rachel Aune, and Georgia AJesperson, and four sons Russel, Virgil, Earl and Wallace, 21 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
