Field Worker's Note-
James Danie Tittle was the son of James M. Tittle, pioneer Cherokee citizen of Craig county. James Danie was shot and killed one mile south of Vinita, at the Cabin creek bridge, on the old highway that went south to Big Cabin, while attempting to arrest two men in an automobile, thought to have been whiskey carriers. He was serving as deputy sheriff under Sam Ridenhour, at the time of his death.
