While working at a test oil well on Mrs. Will Lary's farm south of Hillsboro, W. C. Deavor was struck on the head by a lever of the drilling machinery, at noon Monday. First aid was promptly rendered and the injured man sent to his home near Massey. At 5 o'clock that afternoon he was brought to the Boyd Sanitarium, in an unconscious state. An X-ray examination revealed a fracture at the base of the skull and skilled aid proved unavailing, the injured man dying at 12:05 Tuesday morning without regaining consciousness.
