Mary Frances Mayo, 85, was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Houston, Tex., to John Napoleon and Pearl Margaret Parsons.
Services were held Jan. 11 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Mark Merrill and Pastor Chad Gibson officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Funeral Service.
She met her future husband, Jimmie Mayo at IBM, where they both were beginning their work careers. She had been private secretary to Ralph Talbot, owner of Tulsa's original four movie theaters: The Ritz Theater, the Rialto Theater, the Majestic Theater and the Orpheum Theater.
Mrs. Mayo moved to Jenks in 1952 with her husband James (Jimmie) Mayo, Sr., after having lived in Houston, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. They had six children: Patricia Anne (Sanco), James Morrison Mayo, Jr., Mary Susan (Strain), George Timothy, Margaret Elizabeth "Betsy" (Smith) and Sarah Eileen "Sally" (Mason).
In the 1960s she was Jenks Town Clerk and also editor of the Jenks Journal.
She is survived by four daughters: Susan Strain and husband Bobby Lee of Jenks, Patricia Sanco and husband Sam of Wagoner, Betsy Smith and husband Mike of Fort Gibson, and Sally Mason and husband Mike of Jenks; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Mayo, Sr.; two sons, Jim Mayo, Jr., and George Mayo; and three brothers.
Friends are asked to make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Tulsa.
